CUTTING THE ASSOCIATION’S NEW YEAR’S VASILOPITA
In a festive atmosphere, we held this year’s event to celebrate the traditional cutting of the Association’s Vasilopita cake. Members of the Board, staff and parents participating in the support groups assessed progress made in the previous year and shared their dreams and goals for the new year.
The Association runs two PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS.
The aim of these groups is to support these people, offer knowledge that they may not have, alleviate the impact of difficult past experiences and to open a new window on the world for them.
Because life is not always as it ought to be, it is as it is.
It’s the way in which we handle it that makes the difference.
And we are here to help make that difference.
Being happy does not mean everything has to be perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections.
Alongside the PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS the Association operates a UNEMPLOYED EMPOWERMENT GROUP.
The main aims of the unemployed empowerment group are:
For individuals to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses
To strengthen the confidence and self-esteem of participants
To understand the difference between goals and dreams, and to set basic goals. This means understanding that looking outwards is just dreaming, but that looking inwards means waking up
To make a complete plan of campaign (prepare a proper CV, prepare for interviews etc.)
To provide information about job search techniques
And to help people to develop their professional skills
The unemployed empowerment group completes its full programme in 15 meetings
What we see is that people have a great need to make changes, because the circumstances they are dealing with are so psychologically stressful.
We are here to help put things in perspective and support people in this process of change, which can be beset by both inner problems and external difficulties.
The best way to keep things as they are is not to change
If you want things to change, you have to make the change
We change when we feel that nothing is certain, and then everything becomes possible.
We wish everyone a creative year, with love, health and mutual support.
